Real World Artifical Intelligence Experience and Mentorship
Summer 2026 at Home in Premont!
Who can particpate this Summer?
Anyone ages 14 and up!
This is approximaIty a 1-3 hours per week class that partners with local businesses in our county to understand Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analysis and how this fit into your life & the real world
What will you do?
Attend and participate in a free, structured 1-hour Learning Session each week to learn about new digital tools - like ChatGPT and Data Analysis - that will better prepare you for your future.
Local business partners will come to class to help you understand what a real world application of AI tools looks like and how to deploy it. Learn how to network with local businesses in town (or any place that interests you) that could turn into paid work later!
This is an opportunity to ask all the burning questions about AI. ALL and ANY questions are welcomed. Chances are if you are thinking it - someone else wants to know too. This a free and purely educationial program desinged to help you, your family AND our community "future proof" our existence in South Texas.
Attend a monthly Check-In (approximately a half-hour) with your matched Taproot AI Mentor (either in-person or on Zoom).
At the end of the summer, you will complete a final project (worked on in Learning Sessions) to use your newly aquired skills to help a community member of your choice. This is a unqiue expereince that gives you on new skills and an understanding about how these things could be deployed in the real world. This is a path to skills in YOUR community and potentially long-term careers in your hometown.
Will I get paid?
No, not this summer. This is our 1st Summer doing this program in Premont. Next summer we are hoping to pair the class with job expereinces that are paid, but not just yet.
Weekly 1-Hour Learning Sessions and Half-Hour Weekly Check-Ins with the Taproot AI staff are provided to you for FREE.
The space to have these classes are being dontaed by Jim Wells county and will be help at the Laughlin Community Center, right here in Premont! The schedule is to be announced.
If you need to work this summer, please do! We will make every effort to help coordinate with your schedule.
What do I need to bring with me?
A smart phone. A comuter or table is preferable (due to the size of the devide) but will not be a barrier for practice. If you do not have any of these, please indicate that in comments section of the form and we will do our best to get you something to work with.
A smile, a great attitude & a willingness to learn. We want to have fun this summer too! All classes will be interactive & focused on hands-on tools. If you have questions - ASK THEM PLEASE

We plan to have 2 information sessions, one during the day and one during the even at the Laughlin Community Center - for more details about the program, who will be participating from the community and what the final plan will be.
This is our 1st year, we respectfully ask for your patience as there are likely to be a few bumps in the road. We are committed to the success of this project and we hope you are too!

At present, we have committments from representatives of the following industries: Plumbing, Small Businesses, Church Administration and City Services
Who are we looking to add? Home health, Construction, Electrical, HVAC, Property Management and more!

Sumbit your application below! Rank your choices between 1-3. We will do our best to accomodate your requests but we cannot guareantee it. You be contacted if that happens.
Attend at least 1 or 2 (or both) informational meetings, with the date to be announced. If you are under 18, you must attend with at least 1 parent or guardian. If you want to change your mind after attending this session, that is allowed.
You will go through 2 interviews. One with the Taproot AI staff to determine your interest and suitability for this summer internship. At that time we will discuss any concerns you may and we will narrow down to your top 2 choices. If you are under 18, your parents will also be contacted to confirm your participation. The second interviews will be with your prospective Job Mentors and the Taproot AI staff.
Get your acceptance to the program! For the summer of 2026 - we are hoping to place a minimum of 12 Leaners with their Job Mentors!
Make an appoint to connect with Taproot AI staff to fill out any necessary payroll forms. Then, attend any required saftey course(s) prior to the start of the internship program. Always emember: Saftey First!!!
